Jeffrey M. Silverman

I’m a Data Science & Analytics Leader (player/coach hybrid as needed) and PhD Astrophysicist who uses Big Data to solve Big Problems. I have 10+ years’ experience (4+ as a people manager) analyzing large datasets, uncovering insights, and sharing results clearly and concisely. Technically proficient, a great communicator, an empathetic & inspiring leader, and business savvy, my broad background makes me a versatile & high-impact Data Professional.

As a former Senior Staff Data Scientist at Mozilla (and Senior Manager of Advanced Analytics at Zoom and Director of Data Science & Analytics at TV analytics startup Samba TV) and a PhD Astrophysicist I have extensive experience with the curation and analysis of large datasets, finding interesting results and significant signals in noisy datasets, as well as leading large, varied, and multi-level teams. In addition, I have a unique talent for organizing and summarizing the results from such work and sharing them with both technical and non-technical audiences.

By giving public presentations and visiting classrooms, I continue to pursue my passion for getting the public, and especially students, excited about big data, astronomy, and science in general.
