Bio
Jeffrey J. Brooks currently works for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) as a social scientist. Jeff began his federal career in 1990 as a United States Peace Corps volunteer in Benin, where he led several public health and rural community development projects. Jeff completed a two-year postdoc as a social science analyst with the United States Forest Service in Colorado in 2006. Jeff moved to Alaska in 2008 and worked five years as a social scientist for the National Wildlife Refuge System in the Division of Conservation Planning and Policy. He worked as a social scientist for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Subsistence Management, Division of Anthropology in 2013 through 2015. He began working at BOEM in July 2015. Jeff holds a bachelor of science in biology, a master of science in conservation ecology and sustainable development, and a doctorate in natural resource recreation. Jeff served as an associate editor for Leisure Sciences 2009 through 2015. His interests include applying social science research to collaborative resources management, environmental impact assessment, and public involvement. He lives in Anchorage, Alaska with his spouse and children, where they like to watch wildlife, canoe, fish, hike, bike, camp, and snowshoe.
