Bio
Jayathi Y. Murthy received the Ph.D. degree in numerical heat transfer from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
She has worked in both academia and in industry. She is the Robert V. Adams Professor of mechanical engineering with Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, and the Director of PRISM: NNSA Center for Prediction of Reliability, Integrity and Survivability of Microsystems. She was with Fluent Inc., Canonsburg, PA, a leading vendor of CFD software, she developed the unstructured solution-adaptive finite volume methods underlying their flagship software Fluent and the electronics cooling software package ICEPAK. She is the author of over 270 technical publications. Her current research interests include sub-micron thermal transport and the development of numerical techniques for concurrent electro-thermal simulation in emerging electronic devices.
Prof. Murthy was the recipient of the IBM Faculty Partnership Award from 2003 to 2005, the Journal of Electronics Packaging Best Paper Award in 2004, the ASABE Best Paper Award in 2007, the ASME HTD Best Paper Award in 2008, and the EPPD Woman Engineer of the Year Award in 2009. She serves on the Editorial Board of Numerical Heat Transfer, an editor of the 2nd edition of the Handbook of Numerical Heat Transfer, and an Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Heat Transfer. She has served on numerous national committees and panels on electronics thermal management and CFD.
