个人简介
My main line of research has been delineated in accordance with solution of global scientific problems as identified by the Subcommssion on Devonian Stratigraphy (International Commission on Stratigraphy) SDS-ICS. During the last decades one of the major SDS objective has been the establishment of a precise subdivision of stages than can be globally applied. In this sense, first a biostratigraphical criteria is adopted (entry of a key fossil) and the, a sequence where this event is best exposed. SDS researchers agreed conodonts are the best fossils for this endeavour. Therefore, my main line of research has been devoted to unlock the conodont sequence from one key region that time ago was dearth of data, but entails a great potential, the Spanish Central Pyrenees. Detailed studies in nine selected Middle and early Upper Devonian sections for different facies setting have demonstrated the pivotal role the Pyrenean sequences plays in a global context, both in establishing a fine conodont-based biostratigraphical subdivision and in practicing comprehensive correlations. 76 peer-reviewed publications in journals or book chapters indexed in the JCR (31) and SCIMAGO (see below in selected publications) and 87 congresses abstracts published, mainly in highest reputation meetings: the Internacional Paleontological Congress (2006-2018), Internacional Geological Congress (since 2012), International Congress on Stratigraphy (2015, 2019), SDS (since 2004), Internacional Conodont Symposium (since 2002), Geological Society of America (2013-2017), UNESCO-International Geosciences Projects IGCPs 499 596 y 652. Chief and co-editor of Congress and Fieldtrip Guide Books, (2012, 2017); currently, co-editor of the Special Volumen of the 4th ICOS meeting.
All of the above lead to these five major achievements: 1) Establishment of a fine biostratigraphical subdivision for Upper Eifelian, Givetian and Frasnian strata (Middle and Upper Devonian) in the Pyrenees for the first time; 2) Recognition of 10 successive standard condont zones that supports the intended SDS subdivision of the Givetian Stage into 3 Substages; 3) Recognition of some intervals within the Pyrenean conodont sequences comparable with those described for other key areas (e.g. Montagne Noire) that will facilitate a better comprehension of the history and evolution of the Earth System during Devonian times; 4) Tentatively, first analysis of facies trying to identify major local sea-level changes and their possible relation to faunal shifts, and 5) Identification of marked faunal changes that can be aligned with major events recorded in other places.
During the last 10 years, 5 international collaborations stand out: 1) Spain-Czech teams were working on climatic change evidence in the Lower Devonian sequences in 2 key areas; 2) Investigators from 7 universities have been analysing the biodiversity and global distribution from Devonian sequences of the western Mongolia; 3) China-Spain cooperation studying high resolution on conodont chrono-biostratigraphy from Devonian sequences of the S of China; 4) A collaboration of CNRS-Montpellier and Valencia universities focused on a comparison and regional correlation based on conodont diversity between Devonian sequences from Central Pyrenees and Montagne Noire; 5) Since 2019, a collaboration to University of Greifswald focused on sedimentological and paleontological aspects in Devonian sequences from Pyrenees, Harz and Morocco.
Teaching experience developed at two Universities, Complutense of Madrid (2003-2009) and Valencia (2009-2010, 2017-2021). Recently, I was collaborated in assisting, as Paleontology specialist, in a Educational Fieldtrip in Baltic Sea for Bachelor students (Greifswald University).
Scientific management: As a Corresponding Member of SDS, I have to inform about the national scientific progress on Devonian matters to the international meeting, participate in scientific discussion and design strategies to apply the SDS scientific policies in Spain and promote the international collaboration. Regional Coordinator of the Spanish-Portuguese Working Group of the IGCP 652 (2018-2021) project. Secretary of IGCP 596 and IGCP 499 projects. My duties included coordinate and organise the annual symposium of the group, participate at the IGCP International meetings. As consequence, I am Voting Member of IGCP Spanish Committee since 2014 and Board Member of the IGCP Scientific Subcommission (National Commission of Geosciences) since 2018. Organising committee members of two international congresses: ECOS VIII (2002) and 63th PALASS (2019). Secretary and co-leader of the Pyrenees and Iberian Range fieldtrips of the 4th ICOS (2017). Awarded 4 relevant postdoctoral fellowships: Juan de la Cierva, José Castillejo, DAAD for Universities Academic and Scientists and Maria Zambrano, Next Generation EU; also a predoctoral DAAD fellowship. Over 6 Young Researcher grants for attending congress supported by UNESCO IGCP.
