Jason D. Fraser

I am a Professor of Surgery at Children’s Mercy Kansas City and the University of Missouri - Kansas City where I serve as the Pediatric Surgery Fellowship Program Director, the Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program, and the Medical Director of the Opioid Stewardship Program. I completed my general surgery residency at Mayo Clinic Arizona, and both a research fellowship and pediatric surgery fellowship at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. I currently serve as the Chair of the Education Committee for IPEG and as a board member of the Midwest Pediatric Surgery Consortium where I am the primary investigator of several multi-institutional studies. I have received several teaching awards including the Golden Apple Mercy Mentor Award and the Children’s Mercy Surgeon-in-Chief Award. I have co-authored more than 110 peer-reviewed publications as well as given invited national and international presentations. I have mentored many students, residents, and fellows in research and surgical training. My clinical and research interests include complex minimally invasive surgery, chest wall deformities, endocrine disorders, physician wellness, and adolescent bariatric surgery.
