He has pioneered cutting-edge analytical and chemometric methods for oil hydrocarbon fingerprinting and now works with all aspects of contaminant fingerprinting, petroleomics, and metabolomics. He develops analytical platforms and new tools to handle and process complex data from cutting-edge analytical instrumentation and apply this chemical fingerprinting concept for analysis of complex mixtures of organic contaminants and in numerous industry project collaborations with the petrochemical, environmental, and food industry. He has authored and coauthored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters on these topics. His current research focus is on development and application of multidimensional chromatography platforms in combination with chemometric data
