Bio
James A. Voogt received the B.Sc. degree in physical geography from Queen’s University, Kingston, ON, Canada, in 1986, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in geography from The University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada, in 1989 and 1995, respectively.
He joined the University of Western, London, ON, in 1995, where he is currently a Professor and the Chair with the Department of Geography and Environment. He has contributed to more than 70 published articles and book chapters, and is a coauthor of the text Urban Climate (Cambridge University Press, 2017). His research focuses on urban thermal climates with particular interests in understanding the 3-D surface temperature of cities, thermal anisotropy over urban areas, use of remotely sensed surface temperatures in urban climate model evaluation, climate performance of green roofs, and spatial variations in heat impacts on urban residents.
Prof. Voogt is a member and a Past-President of the International Association for Urban Climate.
