Bio
Prof Njuguna's research is focused on experimental research on composite materials reinforcement, toughness, materials design and selection; and structural-property relationship. Structural composites research is on evaluation of composites integrity and durability evaluation primary structural applications in impact resistance and energy absorption management.
He has developed several commercialised solutions and products plus published widely in composites, nanocomposites and structural integrity issues specifically focusing on vibration, impact and crash performance.
A side stream of his research is a focus on exploiting materials failure behaviour to investigate emission/diffusion/release of nanofillers from polymer fibre-reinforced nanocomposites which contributes to research on their durability and on furthering NanoSafety of nanomaterials to human and environmental health.
