Dr. Bauer is an expert in the properties and evolution of cometary bodies, and is the lead scientist for the development and execution of the WISE Moving Object Pipeline System. His current research focuses on the physical properties of short and long-period comets, active bodies in the Main Belt, and the Centaur and Scattered Disk objects that feed material from beyond Jupiter into the cometary and near-Earth asteroid populations.
