Bio
His research work and that of his group involves working closely with Industry in the analysis, design and operation of international production, supply and service networks, in particular network configuration design and industrial capability development. Before joining Cambridge University in 2003, Jag's previous roles have been in industry as a Manufacturing & Supply Chain Director of a Multinational (multiregional) operation, Technical Director of a National business, and other Senior Management positions, with over 17 years industrial experience in a variety of front-line Manufacturing and Supply Chain operational roles. He is a Chartered Engineer.
Research interests
A key focus of Dr Srai’s work is to develop methodologies that inform the analysis, design and operation of international manufacturing systems and supply network operations. The annual Cambridge International Manufacturing Symposium, chaired by Dr Srai brings together leading academics, practitioners and policy makers in this applied area of strategic engineering and operations management.
Current research areas include global value network analysis, service network integration, supply network resilience, sustainable industrial systems network design, and the development of new forms of supply network that support emerging industries.
Methodologies developed are actively applied in ‘real-world’ applications, by supporting practitioners and policy makers to reconfigure engineering-production-supply-service networks demonstrating both the industrial relevance and impact of the research. Research partners necessarily include leading multinationals and institutional bodies.
Sector expertise in Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Pharmaceuticals, Automotive, Aerospace sectors and Urban last Mile Logistics.
