个人简介
Jae-Beom Lee was born in Pusan, Korea, in 1965. He received the M.S-M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Columbia University, New York, in 1996 and 2000, respectively.
He is currently a Member of Technical Staff with Multimedia Codec IP Group at Sarnoff Corporation, Princeton, NJ. From 2003 to 2005, he was a Video Architect with the Consumer Electronics Group, Intel Corporation, Beaverton, OR, where participated in designing advanced programmable multimedia processors. His contribution is on algorithm analysis and implementation about the DBF Domain Specific Processor (DoSP) that handles overlap transform smoothing, in-loop filtering, and postprocessing of HD WMV-9, VC-1 and H.264. He cofounded Mamurian Design, Seoul, Korea, in 2001 and led research and development efforts for MPEG-4 real-time video backend chips of wireless cell phones as the Director of Engineering until 2003. Mamurian Design is a fabless silicon design startup that has won three consecutive years of Korean government fundings. In 2001, he led the Codec group as an Engineering Manager at SolidStreaming, a New York-based hi-tech start-up, where he was in charge of algorithm/firmware development for low and high-end wireless media streaming devices. He was with C-Cube Microsystems, York Design Center, New York, a pioneering company in multimedia processor silicons, from 1999 to 2001, where his main contributions were on the implementation of firmware/microcode algorithms for high performance 2-chip MPEG-2 transcoder with a dual stream preprocessor. In 1998, he was a Summer Technical Employee with the Video Compression Systems Laboratory, Sarnoff Corporation, where he was involved in MPEG-2 compressed domain logo insertion project. From 1995 to 1999, he was a Graduate Research Assistant with the Center for Telecommunications Research (ADVENT project). While at Columbia, he was involved in the development of various aspects of MPEG-4 video coding including novel shape data compression. From 1990 to 1991, he was a Member of Technical Staff with the Advanced Television Group, Samsung Electronics R&D Center, Suwan, Korea, working on subband-based HDTV proposals. His first publication about video signal processing was in the Spring Conference of 1990 KIEE. He has been working on video-related signal processing issues more than 15 years.
Dr. Lee was one of the guest lecturers for IEEE Communication Society Lecturer Series at Palm Beach Section of Florida in 2005.
