个人简介
Jack Burcher is an osteopathic medical student at Lake Eerie College of Medicine (Bradenton, Florida). After receiving his associates degree from Daytona State College (Deland, Florida), he studied biomedical sciences at the University of Central Florida (Orlando, Florida) while minoring in health sciences. In his undergraduate schooling, Jack Burcher investigated the effects of point mutations on selenocysteine lyase and, in a separate project, determined the relationship between the incidence of pediatric appendectomy and climate. In present day, cancer prevention and treatment with phytocompounds are Jack Burcher’s key research interests. Jack Burcher has presented his research on the efficacy of plant-based compounds against oral cancer in multiple poster symposiums. Jack Burcher’s most recently published work, “Relationship between Tumor Mutational Burden, PD-L1, Patient Characteristics, and Response to Immune Checkpoint Inhibitors in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma” appeared in Cancers (Basel). This retrospective study sought to determine the connection between biomarkers and patient demographics, outcome, and response to PD-1 inhibitors. Although no association between PD-L1 expression and prognosis was found, tumor mutational burden was discovered to be correlated with progression-free survival and may be useful as a prognostic variable and predictor of response to immunotherapy.
