Bio
My expertise is in rock physics, part of geophysics that relates various attributes of rock to each other, such as velocity to porosity. It caters directly to oil and gas exploration. Working at the Stanford Rock Physics group (1989 to 2017) I have created many currently used rock physics models. I have developed interpretation of seismic impedance inversion data for porosity, mineralogy, and pore fluid. I created a model used essentially by every geophysicist dealing with natural methane hydrates. I developed theoretical models for attenuation of seismic waves; pore pressure prediction; and computational rock physics.
