Biogeochemistry of: (1) groundwater recharge and aquifer storage and recovery processes, focusing on how native and introduced microbial communities influence the geochemistry of the impacted groundwater systems and recovered waters, (2 ) the influence that microbial productivity and respiration has on the carbonate saturation state of the Arctic Ocean basins, (3) microbial processes in coral reef sediments and how these processes influence reef ecology and sediment diagenesis.
