Jochen Schein received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. (Dr.Ing.) degrees in electrical engineering from Ruhr Universität Bochum, Bochum, Germany, in 1992 and 1996, respectively. He joined HTPL, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA, as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, in 1997. From 1998 to 2004, he was with Alameda Applied Sciences Corporation, San Leandro, CA, USA. He joined the NIF Fusion Program, LLNL, Livermore, CA, USA, in 2004. Since 2006, he has been a Full Professor with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Bundeswehr University Munich, Neubiberg, Germany, where he leads the Laboratory for Plasma Technology. His current research interests include thermal plasmas for welding, cutting and plasma spraying, and plasma systems for space propulsion.
