Bio
I am an earthquake geologist primarily interested in mapping active faults and determining the potential size and frequency of earthquakes that typically occur along these faults, as well as the extent of the associated potential damages. I am also interested in studying the longer-term role of faults in mountain building.
My research has mostly been in seismically active regions close to plate boundaries such as the Argentine Andes and the Philippines, and internally deforming regions such as Central Anatolia in Turkey. More recently, I have been working in seismically quieter 'stable continental regions,' such as eastern Canada. I employ a multidisciplinary approach which includes quantitative geomorphic and structural analysis through fieldwork, remote sensing and GIS, interpretation of geophysical and geodetic datasets, and numerical modelling.
