Research Interests
I work on the mechanics of crustal deformation, particularly in accretionary complexes and thrust belts, collisional orogens, metamorphic core complexes, and transform fault zones. My research methods include field-based structural geology, integrated with the mechanical analysis of large-scale dynamic systems such as thrust belts and collisional plateaux. This is supported by microstructural analysis to elucidate the deformational mechanisms and rheology of deformed rocks, thermobarometry and geochronology to define pressure-temperature-time paths, and paleomagnetism to determine the rotational history. I collaborate with scientists from many other disciplines, including geophysics, geochronology, and petrology.
