Jennifer Oates is Emeritus Professor of Speech Pathology in the School of Allied Health, Human Services and Sport at La Trobe University. She is a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist and a Life Member of Speech Pathology Australia. Jenni practices clinically at the Melbourne Voice Analysis Centre in East Melbourne. Her research focuses on perception, physiology and acoustics of typical and impaired voice, epidemiology of voice and middle airway disorders, and prevention and management of voice and middle airway disorders. She also has clinical and research interests in counselling training for speech pathologists and in voice and communication support for trans and gender diverse people. Jennifer is a Certified member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), a member of the Certification and Mentoring Committee of WPATH, and a member of the the and of the Research Subcommittee of the Australian Professional Association for Trans Health. She has published 86 journal papers and book chapters and presented 150 conference papers.
