个人简介
João M. F. Calado (jcalado@dem.isel.ipl.pt) (born, 1962). He got the degree (5 years undergraduate course) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Technical University of Lisbon – Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) in 1986, a Diploma of Graduate Studies in Maritime Machinery – Control Systems at Escola Náutica Infante D. Henrique (Paço de Arcos, Portugal) in 1990, the PhD degree at the City University (London, United Kingdom) in the Control Engineering Research Centre, in the PhD Program “Artificial Intelligence Techniques Applied to Fault Detection and Diagnosis in Industrial Processes” and did the Habilition Exam in Electrical Engineering at the Universidade da Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal) in 2009. In October 1986 he joined MAGUE - Construções Metalomecânicas, where he worked as Commissioning Engineer and carried out the commissioning of the control equipment and associated instrumentation, boiler third group of Sines Thermo-Electric Power Plant. In 1989, he founded the company SISTRAN - Engenharia e Sistemas Industriais, having assumed the role of Managing Partner until December 1993. In 2004, he was appointed Administrator of the Institute for the Management of Citizen Shops, functions assumed until December 2006. He started teaching at Escola Náutica Infante D. Henrique (Paço de Arcos, Portugal) as 1st Triennial Assistant in 1987. In 1990, he got the 2nd Triennial Assistant position and in 1992 he got a permanent position as Assistant Professor. Since 1998, he has been with the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon – Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL) in a permanent position as Associate Professor and since May 2009 he became Full Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department – Control Systems Group. He is currently the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department and the Coordinator of the MSc in Maintenance Engineering and the MSc in Mechanical Engineering. Between 1998 and 2005, he was the Head of Mechanical Engineering Studies Centre – ISEL. He is Member of IFAC Technical Committee on Fault Detection, Supervision and Safety of Technical Processes – SAFEPROCESS, Senior Member of IEEE – Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Member of Society of Collaborative Networks (SoColNet), Member of The Portuguese Association for Automatic Control, Member of The Portuguese Society of Robotics and Fellow Member of the Portuguese Association of Qualified Engineers. Actual main research interests of Prof. João Calado are artificial intelligence techniques applied to FDI/FTC, mobile robots, automatic control, intelligent multi agent approaches and collaborative networks. He is also interested in process identification, robotics, remote supervision and control, artificial intelligence techniques applied to image processing. He has participated in several national and European projects as DAMADICS, where he has collaborated in the use of soft computing techniques to fault detection and diagnosis, control and localization methodologies for mobile robots, remote supervision of industrial processes, automation and control of industrial processes and in the use of RFID together with multi agent technologies to achieve cooperative/collaborative networks assuring interoperability between subsystems. He is author of more than 150 scientific publications including books’ chapters, journal papers and papers in proceedings of international conferences. He has been serving as reviewer of many international conferences and international journals. Recently, he has been serving as an expert evaluator of A3ES - Agency for Assessment and Accreditation of Higher Education, ANI - Portuguese National Innovation Agency and IGEC – Inspeção-Geral da Educação e Ciência.
