I performed my chemistry studies at the University of Navarra (1996-2000) complementing them with courses in biology, biochemistry and materials science. After my degree, I deepened my knowledge in organic chemistry by joining the group of Prof. Francisco Palacios at the University of the Basque Country. In my doctoral thesis I investigated the synthesis of 2H-azirines derived from phosphine and phosphonate oxides and their use for the preparation of heterocycles and alpha- and beta-aminophosphate derivatives. As part of my doctorate, I visited Prof. Amir H. Hoveyda's group at Boston College (Boston, USA) in 2003 to learn asymmetric synthesis using N-heterocyclic carbenes. In September 2005 I joined Prof. Aránzazu del Campo's group at the Max-Planck Institute for Metals Research (Stuttgart, Germany) as a postdoctoral researcher. There I focused my research on the synthesis of photoactive silanes and their application as a surface coating for the selective immobilization of proteins and cells. Between December 2008 and July 2009 I worked for Macherey-Nagel GmbH (Düren, Germany) in the development of coatings for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) columns. Next, I joined as a post-doctoral researcher in the Self-assembly Group of the CIC nanoGUNE (Donostia-San Sebastián) under the supervision of Dr. Alexander Bittner until September 2012. In this center, I explored the integration of the tobacco mosaic virus ( TMV) in nanostructures made by electron beam lithography (eBL) and TMV imaging with environmental electron microscopy (eSEM) techniques. From October 2012 to the end of 2015 I was employed by the Organic Chemistry Laboratory at Wageningen University (Wageningen, The Netherlands). There I worked in the development of coatings for indium oxides (ITO), silicon carbide (Si) and platinum (Pt) and participated in the manufacture of an amperometric biosensor for lactic acid. As a result, a European patent was applied for. From April 1, 2016 until March 31, 2017 I developed my research activity at Surfix BV (Wageningen, The Netherlands) as an R&D scientist working on the development of functionalized and non-stick coatings for biosensors and devices. microfluidics. I also worked on a project whose objective was the coating of SiC microparticles with aptamers against asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) to be used as blood detoxifying agents. Then I returned to Spain. Between mid-October and the end of December 2017, I was hired as a postdoctoral researcher at the CIC nanoGUNE to write scientific articles. At the end of January 2018, I joined the company i + Med S. Coop as a researcher working on the development of injectable hydrogels and functional coatings based on hydrogels. Currently I am Senior Researcher at this company
