Bio
The principal areas of Jörg Löffler’s research are the synthesis and characterization of novel nanostructured and amorphous materials; magnetic, structural, and thermophysical properties on the nanoscale; the use of metals for medical applications (in particular bioresorbable implants); and neutron scattering and synchrotron radiation. Among others, he has been awared with the ETH Zurich Medal for the excellence of his Ph.D. dissertation (1998), the Masing Memorial Award (2004) for his contributions as young researcher, and the DGM "Breakthrough" Prize (2016) for his 'mid-career' contributions to materials science.
