Career Trajectory
Bio
Jenny Knight is a Leverhulme Doctoral Scholar conducting interdisciplinary research as part of the Forest Edge program at the Birmingham Institute of Forest Research (BIFoR). Her work explores lived experience and expertise in landscape change; focusing on trees for Natural Flood Management (NFM). She has a deep interest in UK landscapes and the challenge of landscape change. Her focus on Treescapes has included completing a placement with the welsh forestry policy team, winning #thefutureisforestry essay in 2020, taking a role as an expert advisor on the Welsh Governments Trees Deep Dive.
Jenny has a background in Physics, working in education and training, before completing a MSc in Science and Technology Studies at University College London (UCL), where her research on the values and understandings of Forest won the STS dissertation prize. Her interest in the importance and challenges of communication across different disciplines and areas of expertise has combined with her scientific training to enable a unique interdisciplinary perspective. Jenny occasionally writes a blog at www.fieldforestandflood.org and can be found on twitter @missjsknight or out walking two very scruffy dogs.
