Bio
Dr. Kwon's research interests are to apply non-thermal ionization energy (gamma rays, electron beams, and X-rays) to improve food quality and safety during storage and to secure a detection method that can identify both irradiated foods during distribution and ingredients to be used for food processing including space foods. While serving as a researcher at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (1981-1993) and a professor at Kyungpook National University (1993- ), he has published more than 500 peer-reviewed papers. In his editorial career, he served as an Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of Journal of the Korean Society of Food Science and Nutrition (Scopus) in 1999, as an editor of Food Science and Biotechnology (SCIE) in 2011-2012, and currently as an EIC of Korean Journal of Food Preservation (Scopus). He was an Affiliate Faculty at the NASA Food Technology Commercial Space Center, Iowa State University, USA and since 2005, he has been a member of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology.
