Bio
Jörgen A. E. Eklund was born in Jönköping, Sweden, in 1951. He received the M.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from the Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, in 1976, and the Ph.D. degree in industrial ergonomics from the University of Nottingham, U.K., in 1986.
From 1976 to 1985, he was a Safety and Health Engineer with Mjölby Occupational Health Services. From 1986 to 1990, he was a Consultant with Saab-Scania Consult AB, and he also held different positions in industrial ergonomics and quality technology with Linköping University, Sweden, until 1999. He was then appointed as a Professor in industrial ergonomics with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Linköping University. Since 2008, he has been a Professor in ergonomics with the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. He has authored over 300 publications. His research interests include applied ergonomics interventions, production organization, workplace design, musculoskeletal disorders, and ergonomics product development. He has been a Ph.D. Supervisor for over 20 Ph.D. students. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Applied Ergonomics.
Dr. Eklund became a fellow at the International Ergonomics Association in 2011. He was a recipient of the Ergonomics Design Award in 2010. He is currently the Chairman of NIVA, the Nordic Institute for Advanced Training in Occupational Health. He was an Advisor to the Swedish Minister of Labor from 2008 to 2011.
