个人简介
Specializes in conservation ecology. “In Japan, there were paddy fields in the areas where people lived,” she said. “These fields or wetlands contributed to enriching the biodiversity of the country.” She introduced the activities conducted to revive traditional rice farming, which was in fact eco-friendly. The symbols used to promote these activities were waterfowls, including the oriental stork, which at one time became extinct in Japan. The activities were also expected to help in the branding of rice grown in the paddy fields. Professor Washitani expressed her expectations for this type of rice farming, saying: “This method is harmonious with nature and is spreading.”
