Dr Ivica Z. Dimkić was born on August 10, 1983 in Gnjilane, Republic of Serbia. He was graduated at Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade, Module Molecular biology and physiology in 2010. He defended his doctoral dissertation entitled "The characterization of antimicrobial substances from natural isolates of Bacillus sp. for application in biological control of plant pathogenic bacteria and fungi" in April, 2015 at the Department of Microbiology, Faculty of Biology University of Belgrade. He started his work as a Research Trainee on the Project (173026), entitled "Molecular characterization of bacteria from genera Bacillus and Pseudomonas as potential agents for biological control" in 2011 funded by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia. While working on the same Project, he was promoted to a Research Assistant in 2012 and to a Research Associate in 2016. He has been involved in the practical and theoretical part of teaching on Undergraduate and Master academic studies as well as on Postgraduate Specialist and Doctoral studies within the several courses of Microbiology, since 2010. So far he has participated as a member of the Committee for review, assessment and defense of 5 Undergraduate and 11 Master’s theses. He is currently involved in mentoring students of two Master and two Postgraduate Specialist theses, as well as two Doctoral dissertations. Ivica Z. Dimkić has been a member of the Serbian Society for Microbiology, the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS), the Serbian Genetic Society, and Serbian Biological Society since 2010, as well as a member of the Plant Protection Society in Serbia since 2012. He won the first prize for the best scientific paper as a co-author at the Second Symposium of Quality Milk - SQL - UNESP Jaboticabal - São Paulo, held in Brazil in 2014. He has participated in preliminary research for Conservation of old manuscripts, icons and frescoes of the Hilandar monastery, organized by the National Library of Serbia and the Endowment of the Hilandar Monastery in the same year. In 2016 he became a member of a bilateral project entitled “Arbutus unedo L. as a natural approach for controlling urinary tract infections", in a cooperation between Croatia and Serbia in the field of Science and Technology. He won two FEMS grants (FEMS Congress Grants for Young Scientists), in 2015 and 2017 for the participation at the 6th and 7th Congress of European Microbiologists in Maastricht (Netherlands) and Valencia (Spain). During 2016 he was finished internship at the Institute of Nutritional Science, Department of Food Science, Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, as well as a short study visit at the Department of Microbiology and Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine University of Rijeka, Croatia in 2017. Dr Dimkić has published more than 100 bibliographic records so far. Beside plenary sessions and guest lectures on scientific Congresses he gave talks at different institutions and participated in reviewing the papers for several international journals’ databases.
