Career Trajectory
Bio
Ivan O’Connell received the B.E. and Ph.D. degrees from the University College Cork in 1998 and 2005, respectively. He is currently the Analog Mixed-Signal Principal Investigator with MCCI, Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland.
In 2013, he joined MCCI, where he is currently the Head of Group of the MCCI core research team, which consists of master’s and Ph.D. students, Post-Doctors, Research Assistants, and Senior Researchers. He is currently a principal investigator in a number of Innovation Partnerships. His primary research interests are in the area of analogue mixed-signal circuits and data converters. He is particularly interested in the application of this research in the application areas including Internet of Things, biomedical, smart agri, and energy harvesting.
He was the Design Manager with ChipSensors, Ltd., Ireland, which was subsequently acquired by Silicon Laboratories in 2010, where he was involved in the development of their digital relative humidity and temperature sensor products, and their subsequent commercialization.
