Bio
Ivânia Esteves (IE) holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Évora, Portugal (2001) and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Cranfield, England (2007). She is currently developing research activities in the NEMATO-lab, Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE), at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Coimbra (UC), Portugal. The majority of the research since her PhD has been centered in: 1) finding alternative strategies to manage plant-parasitic nematodes in agro-ecosystems through the use of fungal biocontrol agents and nematicidal phytocompounds, 2) development of diagnostic tools to detect and characterise important plant-parasitic nematodes (PPN), 3) assessment of PPN diversity and pathogenicity . At present, she is involved in national and international projects and is co-supervising two PhD students and 1 Msc student. She has authored/co-authored several articles in international journals, 5 book chapters and abstracts in ISI journals and / or ISSN / ISBN journals . She has been involved in the organization of 3 international scientific meetings in the field of phytopathology, 1 national colloquium, 1 workshop, supervision of students and regularly participates in various scientific outreach activities organized by her host institution.
