个人简介
Jackson Ishara is a Junior Lecturer and Researcher at Université Evangélique since March 2015, and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology since 2019. He is interested in biochemistry of natural bioactive metabolites, the molecular mechanisms underlying their contribution in preventing and controlling life threatening conditions and chronic diseases through diverse cellular and physiological pathways modulation by functional and nutraceuticals foods mainly edible mushrooms. He is also interested in tackling food insecurity through edible insects as Food and Feed.
Ishara was among the 6 recipients who represented Africa for the 2019 Food security summer school organized jointly by the University of Hohenheim Food security center Germany and SEARCA, University of Philippines. Ishara won twice the award for student dissertation competition organised at Université Evangélique en Afrique in 2013 and 2014. He was the best student in Biochemistry at Lubaba Institute in 2009.
Ishara received a number of Scholarships and awards for his hard work and commitment. He has supervised a number of undergraduate assisting them with development of research design and writing final project. Ishara has participated in both national and international workshop, conferences, summer school, and professional training including bioinformatic workshop organised by the BecA-ILRI, statistics and data analysis.
Ishara earned a State diploma in Biochemistry, a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering, and a M.S. in Food Science and Technology at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Kenya. Ishara also contributes to the community as a member of the Management team of the CROFEM orphanage since 2019.
