个人简介
I am a MD (graduation year 2012) and finished my PhD June 2020. (University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Health and Medical science). After my residency I had two years and six months as a fellow; one year in general practice and one year and three months at department of endocrinology at Aarhus University Hospital and three months at Hvidovre Hospital.
The title of my thesis was: Insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring in type 1 diabetes: mortality, hypoglycemia and exercise management. As first author, I studied the effects of hypoglycemia by epidemiological methods. The data (BMJ 2015;350:h3234) indicate that administering insulin by a pump, instead of multiple daily insulin injections, may reduce cardiovascular mortality. A reduced frequency of episodes with severe hypoglycemia may be a mediating factor for an association. This paper is in the top 5% of all research outputs scored by Altmetric. At Hvidovre Hospital, I worked on two studies; the first study was about mini-dose glucagon, hypoglycemia and exercise. We found that moderate cycling for 45 min did not impair the glucose response to glucagon compared with the glucose response after resting. We also found that the glucose fall during cycling was diminished by a pre-exercise injection of 200 μg glucagon. (Diabetologia. 2019 Apr;62:582-592) The second study was on the accuracy of a continuous glucose monitor, CGM, attached on the arm compared with a CGM attached on the abdomen. When my supervisor professor Kirsten Nørgaard changed workplace to Steno Diabetes Center I followed her. At Steno I did a trial about exercise and type 1 diabetes. During my years as a Phd student, I have learned to work with different types of personalities. To chare the lab with other PhD Students, booking lab assistants, booking participants, ordering medical devices and organization of lab supplies gave me a good understanding of logistic and teamwork.
The 1th of February until the 31 the of March 2019 I visited a research group at Portland Oregon Health and Science University, OHSU, in USA headed by MD, PhD Jessica Castle. The group have done studies on mini- doses of glucagon injections for people with type 1 diabetes similar to the ones I did at Hvidovre. The group have also done studies on exercise and type 1 diabetes and artificial pancreases.
I am from Stockholm, Sweden (language swedish) but during my years as a medical student and during residency in Denmark I learned to understand fishermen from Fredrikshamn and farmers from Tønder (language danish). Since I have studied French a year at Sorbonne in Paris, I also understand some French. I can work alone but I prefer to be in a team. During my PhD I have also published a child book about a mother that has diabetes. The book’s name is Gabriel’s mum has diabetes and is available in Swedish, Danish and Norwegian on the webpage for the diabetes association. (Diabetesforeningen)
