I started my scientific career by working in the production, purification, storage and formulation/emulsion of an inactivated vaccine against Heartwater, a tick-borne disease cause by the obligate intracellular bacterium Ehrlichia ruminantium. To develop improved vaccine or therapeutics against this disease, I decided to study host-pathogen interactions (using proteomics).
Since 2016, I work on/with free-living amoebae (FLA), which are fascinating unicellular eukaryotes. My research topics include (i) the cartography of FLA (and their associated bacteriome) isolated in water in Guadeloupe (FWI) and (ii) the identification of the virulence factors of the "brain-eating amoeba" Naegleria fowleri.
