个人简介
I am a Research Associate at the Technical University of Madrid. The primary focus of my research is to understand how environment (primarily climate) has been, is and will further be impacting physiological responses and tree growth, forest dynamics and hence, forests persistence and survival at regional to global scales. To reach that aim I make use of a two-fold approach: on the one hand I investigate how increasingly warm and dry conditions as well as changes in frequency and intensity of extreme events may affect different features in trees and forest, particularly at the southernmost limit of the species distribution, accounting for age and genotype on those relationships. On the other hand, I am also interested in expanding our knowledge about past environmental variations and forest history. I believe that a better understanding of how vegetation responds to the current climate variability coupled with a long-term perspective on past changes, enables more realistic estimations of future forest productivity, shifts in species distribution and their potential effects on the global carbon budget. I made use of different dendrochronological approaches (mainly tree-ring width and stable isotopes) in combination with other scientific approximations which leaded to a cross-disciplinary expertise at the interface between tree and forest growth, modelling and paleoclimate.
