Professor Indulis Vanags was born October 6, 1948 in Gulbene.
Vanags I. entered the Riga Medical Institute (now Riga Stradins University) in 1967 and finished the Institute in 1973.
1973-1974, Course in Anaesthesiology and Reanimatology, Riga Medical Institute. 2003, Certificate that has completed the series of Continuing Education in Anaesthesia Courses organised by the F.E.E.A.
2007, Advanced Regional Anesthesia 2007 – hands on workshop. Wayne State University, Detroit, USA.
2004-2009, Certificate of the Committee for the European Education in Anaesthesiology (CEEA) that has completed the entire of six Refresher Courses in Anaesthesiology covered the following areas: Respiratory and thorax, Cardiovascular, Intensive care, emergency medicine, blood and blood transfusion, Mother and child, Adverse reaction, Neurology, loco regional anaesthesia and pain therapy, Anaesthesia according to the pain therapy, Anaesthesia according to the patient, types of surgery and modes of organisation). Annual Refresher Courses in Anaesthesiology and Intensve Care: CEEA, Euroanaesthesia, WFSA, Baltic International etc.
