Igor Zakharov (Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree in physics and mathematics from Mogilev State A. Kuleshov University, Mogilev, Belarus, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree in systems analysis, control, and information processing from the United Institute of Informatics Problems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Minsk, Belarus, in 2006. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist with C-CORE, Ottawa, ON, Canada,where he is carrying out applied research and development of remote sensing technologies to contribute in creation of value in the private and public sectors. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Visiting Fellow with the Government Laboratory, Canada Centre for Remote Sensing, Natural Resources Canada. From 1996 to 2008, he was an Engineer and Research Scientist with the National Academy of Science of Belarus. His research interests include remote sensing, optical and radar imaging, image and data processing, statistical analysis and fusion, machine learning, and modeling of physical processes. He has authored and coauthored more than 70 technical and scientific publications. He was the Session Chair of the IEEE IGARSS, in 2014 and 2017. He was the recipient of the Grant for Ph.D. students of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2002–2003) and Ignite Grant from the Research & Development Corporation (RDC) Newfoundland and Labrador (2013–2015).
