个人简介
Dr. Ibrahim Abdelwahab is a Research Associate at the Center for Nanoscale Systems (CNS) at Harvard University. Before joining Harvard, he was an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow in the Faculty of Physics of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU).
Ibrahim is a highly qualified scientist with a proven track record, evidenced by academic degrees from world-class universities and publications in renowned scientific journals. He holds a Ph.D. degree & DIC in physics from Imperial College London, a Ph.D. degree in integrative sciences and engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS), an M.Sc. degree in nanoscience from Lund University, and a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in applied chemistry from Helwan University. He pursued a joint NUS–Imperial College Ph.D. degree, a qualification recognized as being of the highest international quality, for which he has met the demands of not just one world-leading university, but two. He conducted his Ph.D. research under the supervision of Prof. Kian Ping Loh in Singapore and Prof. Stefan Maier in London (2015-2019). Prior to his doctoral studies, he carried out his master's research project in Prof. Mauricio Terrones’ group at the Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) in 2012 as a research scholar from Lund University visiting with Penn State. He also undertook research projects at several leading academic and research institutions, e.g., Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), and Grenoble Alpes University.
Ibrahim’s research interests lie at the interface between physics, chemistry and materials science, and are centered around low-dimensional materials and devices, with a narrow focus given to advanced 2D materials, including 2D hybrid organic-inorganic perovskite materials, transition metal chalcogenides, topological insulators, and strongly correlated materials. His research activities span the continuum from fundamental to applied research in nanotechnology and nanophotonics, ranging from unraveling the nanoscale physical and chemical properties of materials to the development of new materials and devices for novel applications in various areas such as imaging, sensing, energy, communications, biomedicine, industrial manufacturing, artificial intelligence technology, and quantum technology. He has authored and co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed publications in top‐tier scientific journals, e.g., Nature Photonics, Nature Materials, Nature Chemistry, Nature Communications, Science Advances, Advanced Materials, JACS, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, etc.
