Bio
Dr. Zaidul Sarker is currently a Food Scientist and Professor/ State Program & Food Science Leader at Cooperative Research, Extension and Education Services (CREES) in Northern Marianas College (NMC), Saipan, U.S. Previously he was a Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) from April 2011 till August 2021. He was also an Associate Professor of Food Science at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) from Sept. 2007 till March 2011, a Postdoctoral Fellow of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) from Nov. 2005 to Sept. 2007 at National Agricultural and Food Research Organization (NARO), Hokkaido, Japan, and a Research Associate at Tohoku University of Japan from Sept. 2003 till Nov. 2005. Dr. Sarker was also a Visiting Professor at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from January 2015 till December 2018, and was a Visiting Scholar at Fukuoka University in July-August 2017. He has also served as a Head of Research from 2013 till 2015, and Head of Internationalization and Global Networking at Faculty of Pharmacy, IIUM in 2018.
The major specializations of Dr. Sarker are in food, nutraceutical and pharmaceutical science, and supercritical fluid extraction with over 200 publications in peer reviewed journals, patents, book chapters, press news, magazines and conferences. He has been invited from various international conferences as a plenary, keynote and invited speaker. He was a winner of Young Scientist Award of American Chemical Society (ACS) at PACIFICHEM 2010, and is a winner of Gold Medals, and the best product awards for his innovations and inventions at national and international levels.
Dr. Sarker has received a series of scholarships and fellowships from Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS) and Graduate Research Fellowships under Intensification of Research in Priority Areas. He has been appointed as an External Assessor and a member of PhD thesis evaluation committee, research grant evaluation committee and academic promotion evaluation committee at national and international levels.
Dr. Sarker has received research grants of over USD 4 (four) Million as a principal investigator (PI). He has supervised more than 30 graduate (Ph.D. & M.Sc.) students. He has also supervised five (5) post-doctoral fellows and many graduate research fellows at UPM and IIUM. He has been appointed as an external and internal examiner for more than 20 Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses. He has collaborations at local and international levels. He is a member of several professional societies at international level. His research is well cited over 12500 with h-index of 56 (refer the links below to overview of his publications).
