Bio
Ivano Condò majored in Biology after a research internship in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Rome La Sapienza. Subsequently, his research activities in enzyme biochemistry, regulation of gene expression and molecular mechanisms of programmed cell death were supported by graduate fellowships from the Institute Pasteur and from the Italian Foundation for Cancer Research. He earned a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, with a study centered on human frataxin, the protein defective in the genetic disease Friedreich’s Ataxia. After a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Experimental Medicine and Biochemical Sciences, he joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of Experimental Medicine and Pathophysiology at University of Rome Tor Vergata. Currently, Dr. Condò is a teacher of Immunology and Immunopathology at the School of Medicine and supervisor of Master’s Degree students, Ph.D. students and Postdoc fellows. His research interests in the Department of Biomedicine and Prevention are mainly focused on molecular pathophysiology of Friedreich’s Ataxia and novel molecular therapies for the treatment of this rare disease.
