Bio
Ignacio Ayala de la Peña received his Veterinary Science Degree from the Murcia University (Murcia, Spain) in 1991 and was awarded with a National Price (Premio Nacional de Licenciatura) given by the Science & Education Ministry of Spain and the Purina Best National Records Award, visiting with that the Animal Medical Center at New York (USA), the Veterinary Medical Center (College of Veterinary Medicine, St. Paul, Minnesota) and the facilities of Ralston Purina International (St. Louis, Missouri). He performed post-graduate studies for obtaining a PhD in Veterinary Science (Equine Medicine) at Murcia University (1993) and later a second PhD in Veterinary Medicine (Small animals Medicine) at Bolony University (Italy, 1995) by means of an scholarship of the Real Colegio de España in Bolony. He completed long academic and clinical stays at the Horse Clinic of Hannover University (Germany), Clinical Services of Bolony Veterinary School, and the Veterinary Hospital of Wien Veterinary School (Austria). From 1996 to 1998, he joined as Assistant Professor the Animal Medicine & Surgery Department of the Lugo School of Veterinary Medicine. He became Diplomate of Veterinary Endoscopy at Caceres Minimally Invasive Surgery CCMI (1999). From 1998 to 2000 he joined the Murcia University as Assistant Professor (2nd stage), from 2000 to 2017 as Senior Professor (Profesor Titular), and finally obtained the Professor position (Catedrático) in 2017 to the present day. With regard to research, he has conducted several works on metabolic diseases in different species, including experimental medicine, electrocardiography, and later focusing on diagnostic and therapeutic use of endoscopy in veterinary medicine, as well as on equine and small animal medicine. He is a member of an Interdisciplinary Research Group on Endoscopy (FFIS, Public Foundation for Research, Murcia Region, Spain) and has been lecturing endoscopy in Improve and CCMI annual courses . His research output has resulted in more than 40 JCR impact research and clinical articles, 74 national articles, 14 publications as books or book chapters, 22 research projects or contracts, 99 national congress contributions, 81 international congress contributions, 6 directed PhD works (DoctoralThesis) and 2 more PhD in course. He is also in charge of the Endoscopy Section of the Murcia University Veterinary Hospital, and member of the Internal Medicine Service.
