Career Trajectory
Bio
Hyun Gook Kang received the Ph.D. degree in nuclear engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, South Korea, in 1999.
He is a Nuclear Engineering Expert working as an Associate Professor with KAIST. Currently, he is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, Lowell, MA, USA. After receiving the Ph.D. degree, he was with the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI), Daejeon, South Korea, as a Senior Researcher for more than ten years. In 2011 and 2012, he taught at Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed international journal articles and 100 conference presentations. His research interests include interconnected specialties that lie in innovations of risk assessment of safety-critical systems, intrinsically safe nuclear power, intelligence of control and protection, and design and evaluation of emergency procedures.
Dr. Kang served as a Publication Secretary of the Korean Nuclear Society for Nuclear Engineering and Technology (NET).
