Bio
Hual-Te Chien received the B.S. degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Tamkang University, New Taipei, Taiwan, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in aerospace engineering and engineering mechanics from the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH.
He is currently a Principal Mechanical Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory. He has 24 years of experience in the area of sensor and instrumentation, nondestructive evaluation and testing (NDE/T), and smart/intelligent materials and structures development. Recently, he has been working on developing photoacoustic, laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), and millimeter spectroscope techniques for remote sensing and environmental monitoring. He has been author or coauthor of more than 60 publications and awarded seven U.S. patents.
Dr. Chien received two R&D 100 Awards in 1994 and 2011 and an Argonne's Pacesetter Award for excellence in achievement and performance in 1997.
