Bio
Lim Hooi Ren is a PhD student at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, where he is currently pursuing his research in the field of sustainable Spirulina cultivation methods. He is a young researcher with a background in Chemical Engineering, having obtained his MEng in Chemical Engineering with Oil and Gas Technology at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.
During his studies, Hooi Ren developed a keen interest in the application of sustainable technology in the field of chemical engineering, specifically in the cultivation of microalgae. His current research is focused on the development of sustainable Spirulina cultivation methods. Spirulina is a type of microalgae that is known for its high nutritional value, and it is often used as a food supplement.
Hooi Ren's research also includes interest on wastewater, waste management, plastic waste, microalgae technology, bioremediation, internet of things (IoT), and machine learning. His research aims to address the pressing issue of plastic waste and wastewater pollution, and to develop sustainable solutions that can be applied in the real-world. He is also exploring the use of IoT and machine learning techniques in monitoring and optimizing these processes.
