个人简介
Dr Hilary Hughes is Adjunct Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, Queensland University of Technology (QUT), Australia (since Janaury 2019).
Hilary's inter-disciplinary research interests include: Learning space design;International student experience; Information literacy and informed learning; School libraries and teacher-librarianship.
She has particular expertise in: Expanded critical incident technique (Hughes, 2012); Qualitative case study; Qualitative interviewing; Thematic analysis.
Hilary's doctoral study (2009) about international students using online information led to her Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence award at Colorado University Denver, USA in 2010. Building on this work, she advances the theory and practice of inclusive informed learning through her research and teaching. Recognising the influence of environment on information use and learning, her related research explores the design of learning spaces, especially in school and academic libraries.
While at QUT Hilary contributed to the following research projects:
Nov 2018 –Nov 2019 Chief investigator: Investigative post occupancy evaluation of XX College Learning Centre (funded by XX College).
2014-16 Chief investigator: Fostering digital participation through living labs in regional and rural Australian communities (Australian Research Council – Linkage grant)
2016-18 Chief investigator: Value in operations. Innovative procurement theories to optimise education per cost of school (Australian Research Council – Linkage grant)
2016 Project leader: High school spaces and student transitioning: Designing for student wellbeing (Qld Department of Education and Training)
2015 Project leader: First Year Experience grant: International students crossing library boundaries (QUT)
2014-16 Project leader: University Libraries and international students.
International collaboration with librarian-researchers at QUT & 3 US universities.
2012-13 Chief investigator: Reimaging learning spaces (Queensland Council of Social Science Innovation).
2012 - 2013 Leader: Crossing boundaries with reading. (QUT Engagement Innovation Grant).
2009-2010 Chief Investigator & Sub-program Leader: Repositioning LIS education in 21st Century (Australian Learning and Teaching Council).
2010–2013 Project leader: School libraries, teacher-librarians and literacy development in Gold Coast schools (School Library Association of Queensland).
In her research, she draws upon previous professional experience as librarian and information literacy educator at:
