Helene Niculita Hirzel

Her research initially focused on the characterization of fungal and bacterial communities in different ecosystems (the built environment, food industry and alpine soils), as well as on the factors that shape these communities and promote their aerosolization. Since 2014, she has been conducting epidemiological studies to estimate the impact of the built environment on human health. She has been also dissecting in vitro the toxic and inflammatory mechanisms induced by the microbial communities.
