Bio
Dr Helen McCarthy is an experienced clinical paediatric dietitian, having worked in this field for many years. She specialises in paediatric and neonatal nutrition support across a number of specialities. She also has expertise in adult nutrition support.
Helen is an experienced academic teaching nutrition into a range of undergraduate and postgraduate course including nutrition an dietetics, sport and exercise nutrition, allied health and pharmacy degrees.
Helen has 2 key areas of research interest, the identification and management of malnutrition in children and adults, and nutrition education. She developed and validated the Screening Tool for the Assessment of Malnutrition in Paediatrics (STAMP) which is now used worldwide. She continues to collaborate and support international research using this tool.
Helen is a founding member of the NNEdPro ANZ network, part of a world leading and highly innovative think-tank, training academy and knowledge network, bringing together the best of education, research, and evaluation in nutrition-related aspects of healthcare.
