Bio
H.I. Chaminé is a skilled Geologist (BSc, PhD, DSc) with over 31 years of experience in multidisciplinary geoscience research and practice. His expertise span over fundamental to applied fields (GIS mapping, structural geology, engineering geosciences for rock engineering, slope geotechnics, hydrogeomechanics, groundwater exploration and hydromineral resources). He has interests in geomining heritage, geoethics, history of cartography, military geosciences, higher education dissemination and geo-professional core values
In July' 1991/March'1992, served in Portuguese Army (Mortar Infantry Platoon) as Cadet and Officer Aspirant (military topography, ground surveys, instruction, military leadership)
Currently, he is a Professor of engineering geosciences at ISEP and Head of the Laboratory of Cartography and Applied Geology. He belongs to the executive board of the Department of Geotechnical Engineering, MSc and BSc Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering programmes (OE+EUR-ACE), Invited Professor of "Thermal Waters" course at ESHT|P.Porto, PhD Programmes at U.Vigo (Spain), UFP.Porto and U.Aveiro; Senior Researcher at GeoBioTec|UA, and Coordinator of "Geology on Summer/Ciência Viva" at ISEP. He advised 1 post-Doc, 7 PhD, 45 MSc, 23 BSc and 14 trainees' scholarships. Currently, he is the scientific advisor of 4 PhD and 3 MSc students.
