Bio
Daniel C. Heinz (S'92–M'07) received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York, Buffalo, in 1991, and the M.E.S. degree in electrical engineering from Loyola College, Baltimore, MD, in 1994, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC), Baltimore, in 2001.
He dissertation involved target detection, classification, and quantification in hyperspectral/multispectral imagery. From 1991 to 1996, he was with a Chemical Detector Project at the United States Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command, Edgewood, MD. From 1996 to 1997, he was involved in video teleconferencing at Tracor Applied Sciences, Inc., California, MD. From 1997 to 2000, he was a Teaching Assistant, a Research Assistant, and an Instructor at UMBC. From 2000 to 2007, he was involved in detection, signal conditioning, tracking, and classification algorithms at Northrop Grumman, Baltimore. Currently, he is with the Science and Technology Corporation, Edgewood, where he is engaged in developing algorithms for chemical and biological agent detection.
Dr. Heinz is a member of the International Society for Optical Engineers and Phi Kappa Phi.
