个人简介
Main Research Line.
a. Epithelial Mesenchymal Transition in prostate cancer: We study the molecular expression and mechanism of Epithelial Mesenchymal Transition (EMT) in prostate cancer with special focus on adhesion molecules and transcription factors (cadherins, syndecans, snail). The aim of this study is provide evidence supporting those EMT genes may represent suitable diagnosis and prognosis markers as well as new therapeutic targets.
b. Early diagnosis and prognosis of prostate cancer: We study the expression of tumor molecular markers related with proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, invasive capacity and metastasis in prostate tumors. Among these markers we have studied proteins like E-cadherins, catenins, syndecans, PSA, VEGFR-3, uPA, metaloproteinase-9, osteonectin (SPARC) and different soluble proteins present in plasma. The aim of this study is to establish a correlation between the expression of these markers and the tumor progression grade, using quantitative immunocytochemistry on samples from biopsy archive. This research is oriented to provide new tools for and early diagnosis and a more accurate prognosis.
