Bio
I am an applied social psychologist with expertise in adolescent health issues. My research focuses on the application of social psychological theories to the study of adolescent pregnancy and the acquisition of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among youth. Additional research areas include program evaluation, sexuality, sexual victimization, survey methodology, psychometric evaluation of survey measures, and adolescent violence, particularly bullying.
I have excellent analytical and written/verbal communication skills as evidenced by 35 journal articles, five book chapters, six reports, and over 85 national and international conference presentations, invited talks, and workshops. Moreover, I have ample professional experience overseeing social-science and applied research projects, employing advanced techniques in descriptive and inferential statistics via statistical analysis software packages, and disseminating research results to diverse audiences through publications, reports, and presentations. Throughout my career, I have been involved in the development, implementation, and evaluation of prevention programs in diverse areas, including HIV/AIDS, douching behaviors among African American women, and bullying prevention.
