Bio
Dr Hazel Moir, Adjunct Associate Professor at the Australian National University Centre for European Studies (ANUCES), works primarily on patents, geographical indications and other monopolies and restraints on trade which are typically included in “intellectual property” chapters in trade treaties. With her background in economics, demography and public policy she also works on selected other aspects of trade and other social and economic policy. She has worked overseas on development issues and spent two decades in the Australian Public Service, primarily in the areas of industry and trade policy, including advising on transport and communications during the height of micro-economic reform. In her current position she produces journal articles, conference papers and briefs and policy notes for the ANUCES. She recently completed a series of ANUCES Policy Notes on the EU’s demands in the current Australia-EU trade negotiations as well as a chapter on pharmaceutical patenting for the forthcoming (2022) Cambridge Handbook of Investment-Driven Intellectual Property, edited by Enrico Bonadio and Patrick Goold.
