Bio
Dr. Hayat Khan’s primary practice was based at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital where he is now engaged in treating most complex cases of strabismus & pediatric ophthalmology with a special interest in pediatric glaucoma and retinoblastomas. About 65% of the patient he sees are pediatric patients while the rest 25% are adults for whom he is treating anterior segment and glaucoma patients.
Dr. Khan has a surgical membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, United Kingdom as well as a fellowship of the prestigious International Council of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Khan earlier served as the head of the pediatric ophthalmology unit of Dubai Health Authority at Dubai Hospital. He has more than 24 years in the area of ophthalmology, 14 years doing pediatric ophthalmology, and has served in the capacity of a consultant ophthalmologist in British Guyana. He also worked as a consultant at Ain Al Khaleej Hospital in Al Ain, UAE. He was then appointed with Orbis International and the Government of Guyana to serve Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
In 2008, he pursued AAPOS Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Retinal Dystrophy from McGill University, Montreal, Canada followed by the second Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship from the largest program in North America at Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto, Canada. Earlier, after completing 5 years residency at Aligarh Muslim University in 2003, He undertook my anterior segment training at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences for phacoemulsification and later in Nepal for small incision cataract surgery. He served as Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology at the esteemed Tribhuvan University, Nepal in 2004-05. He was a co-founder and developed a state-of-the-art tertiary care pediatrics ophthalmic service in Una, India. He spent a few years as a Consultant at Saad Specialist Hospital, Eastern Province, where he provided pediatric ophthalmic services at tertiary care services (including ROP screening & treatment) and advanced strabismus surgeries where he is especially talented in doing squint surgeries using adjustable sutures.
He is a renowned speaker at numerous international conferences and was awarded the 2012 Research Award AAPOS Meeting in San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Khan has the author/co-author of several international scientific articles. He is appointed as the Managing Editor of Dubai Medical Journal. He is also associate editor and reviewer for numerous international journals. He was teaching sixteen ophthalmology residents as well as involved in research activity along with his pediatric ophthalmology and strabismology practice.
